Take Me Back...

Hello World...

I'm sure some of you have heard that we've recently lost a music legend.  Andrae Crouch is known for his gospel hits but had his hand in the entire music world with production and song writing plugs all over.

The Crouch family was one of the groups that inspired me as a young musician to use my gifts for the Lord.  I purchased song books that included his hits and even had the songbook version of one of his albums which allowed me to attempt to tackle his writing genius.  Back then I had the skills to handle those music staffs, now I just look through it and reminisce about the passion and nimbleness that I possessed.  The death of a such a great talent just reminds me that we are all born with something for the world.  It is up to us to do what we need to do take our skills to the professional level and get it to the world.  Reverend Crouch took off at an early age and was focused on his goal of making music to uplift Jesus.  At 15, he wrote a song that became one of my favorites at an early age and I sang at every invited church "The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power".  Another favorite of mine and go-to song was "Soon And Very Soon", a great group or solo pick.

His life just reminds me that time is of the essence.  Not that I was unaware of that before but it just brings it home again.  I never met him personally but he was an influence on me.  I spent the Christmas holidays in the hospital as my Mom got well.  Even though she's doing great and at home, that time of spending the night in the hospital and helping her with respiratory treatments (at least pushing the button for the nurse) reminded me again that life is precious and can be taken in a moment.  Looking around at my life, I really want the Lord to (in the words of the late Rev Crouch) take me back to the place where I first received you...where I first believed.  There was a time that you couldn't tell me anything my gifts made room.  Somewhere the steam cooled and I began to settle in life, in everything.

I was speaking with a co-worker earlier today (who happens to be a musician.  He went on a music sabbatical and today we discussed him creating another band.  And I told him (while talking to myself) that as an artist we only truly function at 100% by working in and with our gifts.  Anything else that we do is a holding place and our interest fizzles quickly.  The music is the only thing that holds our attention and it holds it for life!

I encourage YOU (yes YOU) to keep moving forward in your gift.  Don't lose speed, don't lose steam.  And when you feel your interest waning, ask the Father, the Universe to take you back to the time and space when your passion kept you focused!

I congratulate you (in advance) for your completed goals and objectives!

Peace and Blessings....

Lovers Holiday.....everyday?

Hello World...

This will be a short one...I have to speak on the reminder of my blessings that I received last month.

Valentines Day weekend was an icy week/weekend and our office moved that weekend.  The streets were crazy icy and I needed to go from SW Atlanta to NE Atlanta/Sandy Springs.  Thanks to an awesome business connection with a nearby hotel, I was able to lay my head down on the NE side without worrying about getting back to the SW side.  During my stay I was able to catch up on some shows, including my fave TNT, BRAVO and HBO channels.  One movie on HBO FAM snuck up on me, I don't know the title of it but it was a story of a country girl with a beautiful voice who made it big and then learned the real lesson of love.  The moral of the story is to use your gift from your heart and you get the full potential.

Another big thank you to the staff and management at Hyatt Place Perimeter.  Check out the Eat and Drink With Me review here.

Peace and Blessings.....

Another Legend Gone...Be Productive...

Hello World...

Sad news just in...a sad day in the music world!  We have lost funk/jazz great Mr.George Duke!!  http://www.eurweb.com/2013/08/we-remember-george-duke-dies-at-67/

No matter what age you are, if you wanted to hear or were looking for real music or if you were just raised around real music his tunes graced your ear drums!

Mr. Duke has been blessing us with tunes (studio/live/film composition) since the 1960s and had just released a new album entitled "Dream Weaver" (click here) which is dedicated to his wife who passed away last July from cancer.

Enjoy one of my fave Duke Tunes by clicking here...

Our lesson today: As we enjoy this new day, use your time, every breath wisely and be productive because your next second is not promised!!

On a personal/professional note:  I will be ministering with Christ Point of View Ministries Sunday, Aug 18th in Commerce GA.  Shouts out to a new good friend, Meryl Lain, for creating this opportunity and a shouts out to International Choreographer Ursula Kendall for being a great friend and networking fiend!  :-)  It's good to connect with productive people who operate on a professional level, they allow you to connect with the right people!  Hone your craft, have a plan and be ready to GO!!

Peace and Blessings.....

Hello World...

This is my first blog!!! Yaaaaay!!! I broke the silence, finally! (whew!) I haven't journaled, diaried (new word) or anything in years!  Ok, this is my first blog and also the title of my blog inside NissaKaye's world.  So my first stuff to talk about is the fact that for 2012 I vowed to step back onto my path and quit taking the tiny trail/path that ran parallel to it.  yep that is possible.  I started out early in life in the gospel world, singing and playing not professional but once upon a time, I wanted to build up my skills to that level in both areas  However, I got frustrated and depressed about some other life stuff and gave up. I got tired of fighting what felt like an uphill battle.  I did write about it on Helium (http://www.helium.com/items/740095-unique-challenges-faced-by-children-raised-in-single-parent-homes).  I touched on my pain a tad bit and now i'm finally coming full circle and I'm glad about it.  You can also check out my ReverbNation.com/annissakelliott page and keep up with what i'm doing on my FB pages (Nissa K Elliott and Nissa K).  Moving to Atlanta has been the best thing I could have done with my life, I'm surrounded by beautiful spirits and I have no other option but to move forward.  And I love it!  So that's it for now.  Now that I'm starting I'm hoping to be a beast about it! LOL!! *peace and blessings*
